If you’re looking for Panama City events this week, you’ve landed in the right place. From April 26 through May 4, 2026, Panama City is buzzing — and nowhere more than in the cobblestone heart of Casco Viejo, where history, food, music, and street life collide on a daily basis. Here’s a local’s rundown of what’s actually happening.
Events Happening Now — April 26–May 4, 2026
Casco Peatonal First Anniversary
The Municipality of Panama is throwing a full-day party to celebrate the first anniversary of Casco Peatonal — the car-free pedestrian zone that transformed the historic San Felipe district a year ago. This is the big one for the neighborhood this weekend.
- Mercado San Felipe Neri (from 6 a.m.): Fritangas, meats, vegetables, and traditional chacaldo de pollo at noon with live music and crafts.
- Plaza de Francia: Live painting, mural and graffiti exhibitions — free to wander through.
- Plaza Herrera: Clothing and shoe donation bazar, pet services, local entrepreneur showcases.
- Casa de la Municipalidad: «Tamboreras» — a live musical fusion of tamborito and cumbia panameña with Cuban son influences.
- Calle Las Molas (from 2 p.m.): The Tamborito del Callejón procession winds through the Casco.
- Plaza Catedral (from 6:30 p.m.): Artistic stage with ethnic dances, folkloric performances, salsa orchestras, and sweet singing.
- Calle Quinta: Full-day Feria de Sevilla experience, organized by La Tasca La Candelaria.
This is a free, community-run celebration. Show up, eat something, and let the city do its thing. Details via Alcaldía de Panamá →
Tierra, Viento, Fuego, Agua — 4th International Edition
Panama City’s most visually striking event of the season: an art, fashion, and design showcase inspired by the four natural elements. Held at Proyecto Ciudad de las Artes in collaboration with Panama’s Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), this event features Panamanian and international designers, wearable art installations, and a charity auction benefiting Fundación Hogar de las Niñas de la Capital.
This is not a typical fashion show — think immersive art installation meets catwalk meets conscious design movement. Tickets on Eventbrite →
Karaoke Jamming Fest #2 — Teatro Escondido
If you want something more low-key and loud at the same time, Teatro Escondido is hosting the Karaoke Jamming Fest #2 across the weekend. It’s exactly what it sounds like — and the crowd is always a good mix of locals and expats who take it very seriously. Full lineup on Bandsintown →
Feria Internacional de Azuero — 62nd Edition
Not in Panama City proper, but absolutely worth the trip: the 62nd Feria Internacional de Azuero runs through May 3, 2026 in the Azuero Peninsula (about 4 hours from the capital). This is Panama’s most important regional fair — 350,000 visitors expected — with livestock exhibitions, traditional crafts, folkloric dance, gastronomy, and live concerts. If you’ve got a free day and want to see the real interior of Panama, this is it. Full program at Descubre Panamá →
Even on a quiet Tuesday, Casco Viejo delivers. Here’s the permanent rotation of things worth doing around Parque de la Independencia and the surrounding streets.
Parque de la Independencia (Plaza Catedral)
Ground zero for Casco Viejo life. The plaza sits in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral and anchors the whole neighborhood. In the evenings especially, locals take it over — kids on the steps, couples on benches, street vendors moving through the crowd. There’s almost always something impromptu: a busker, a dance rehearsal, someone selling raspao. Google Maps →
Iglesia de San José and the Golden Altar
Two blocks from the plaza, the Iglesia de San José houses one of Panama’s most remarkable treasures: a hand-carved baroque altar covered in gold leaf, said to have been hidden from the pirate Henry Morgan by painting it black. The church is open to visitors most mornings — no ticket, no tour guide required. Just walk in and look up. Google Maps →
The Sea Wall Walk — Paseo Las Bóvedas
The old colonial fortification wall along the southern edge of Casco Viejo is one of the best free viewpoints in the city. Walk it at sunset and you get the Pacific on one side, the skyline of modern Panama City on the other, and the crumbling grandeur of the old quarter behind you. Google Maps →
Rooftop Bars After Dark
The neighborhood stacks vertically at night. Terraplén Rooftop in Edificio BEC is the go-to for cocktails and city views. Several other spots on and around Calle 1ra and the plaza area open up as the sun goes down — the vibe shifts from families in the plaza to a mix of locals, expats, and travelers by 9 p.m. Terraplén’s website →
Pangea Ink has two studios in Panama City — right in Casco Viejo and on Vía Argentina. If you’re already in town for an event, it’s the perfect time to book that piece you’ve been thinking about. World-class artists, half the price of New York or London.
